For the past 7 years my wife has been driving 10-12k miles a year on her 2006 Toyota Sienna. I like routine, so I have been changing the oil every April and October with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and a Wix. I know, I know, I could go longer.... Now my wife's office is only 2 miles from our house and she really cut her driving to about 6k a year and in doing so, she really doesn't get the Sienna up in temperature very well. I think I will still change every April and Oct (as that is when I do my car too) but what would be a good oil for her new lack of driving? Would a good dino be better? Cost is not the issue...

Use Mobil 1 5w30 and change it once a year. When you get paranoid about the van, email me and I will come and buy the Sienna off of you for a good price. Or I can trade you my 98 Sienna XLE. ;-)

Regards, JC.

Why would you change from PP to M1? His schedule is fine. If anything he might want to change his oil just a bit more often to err on the side of keeping his Toyota longer than originally planned. The way to choose between these 2 oils would be to purchase the cheapest one.

Why would he change to M1? I don't see the advantage.

Why would he change more frequently? Twice/year is roughly 3k miles on PP, which would already be a very short interval, appropriately conservatively short for his wife's new driving style.

Stick with what you're doing. If it keeps you up at night, then send out a sample for analysis.
