I drive my 2004 Toyota Tacoma about 3000 every six months. Should I change my oil and filter then or could I go on to 5000 miles? Or should I change at 3 months regardless of miles? I have had the truck for 1 year now and I change the oil at 3000 miles or six months.

I think you are doing fine at 3000 miles/6 months changes. What oil do you use, conventional, blend or synthetic? Synthetic should go more miles/months. In any case, you could do a used oil analysis at 6 months to see if you can run it longer.

I would put Mobil 1 5w30 or GC 0-30 in your Taco for 6k mile/ 1yr OCI's with OEM or Wix filter.

Would not go past 6 months on dino.

This sounds very similar to my '00 Silverado 5.3. It's 5 years old and only has 21k miles.

It gets 1yr/OCI's unless the OilLifeMonitor comes on first.

It has Mobil 1 10w30 and Bosch Premium filter, though will switch to AC Delco next year.

Motorcraft Oil + Toyo filter = Good 3k/6mo OCI.

Motorcraft is good oil.

O'reily Auto Parts has Motorcraft 5qt jugs now for $9.88.

2 Motorcraft/Toyo OCI's per year will cost the same as 1 M1 or GC/Toyo OCI per year.

Both will work well.

I was doing the same 6 month/3k thing with the Motorcraft and toyo filters.. then I came upon a bunch of cheap M1 so I am running it for a year. 6 month conventional or 1 year good synthetic with a 6 mo filter change and top off, it will be good.

under warranty, isn't toyota oci 6 months/5000 miles? if it is, I would stick with dino, six month interval. your doing fine.

Depends on the year/model.. My 2002 tacoma is 6/7500. Still doesn't mean you have to follow it.
