Oil for EcoBoost

My dealer told me it would arrive tonight or tomorrow morning. It's a White crew cab, 4x4 with 3:73 e locker. It's an XLT that has All options except leather & sunroof which would then make it a Lariat....lol

On an oil note, I've decided to go with the Castrol Edge Titanium 5W30 (Black Bottle) for my EcoBoost. Going to drop my Factory Fill after 500 miles (I've always done this) & refill with the Castrol, just in time for a 1,000 mile trip. I'll then change it at 5,000 miles & send it off for a UOA. I plan on doing 5,000 mile OCI's. I don't wanna push it knowing fuel dilution could be an issue & knowing I'm a 70/30 city vs highway driver.

Run the oil out to 5k and change at 5k intervals. I don't like using the life monitor but lots of people do without any problems. What I have noticed when I worked at dealership the ones that were using oil are the ones that changed oil early on first oil change. The rings need to set properly and oil from factory helps that. As for metal in oil well there is metal in oil at 150k if you look at it through microscope. People worry to much. Pick a good synthetic like Pennzoil Pureplus Synthethic and change at regular interval. Enjoy your new vehicle. Oh I run Pennzoil in everything that needs oil.

OP, i don't foresee any issues with the oil choice you've made. Congrats on the nice/new vehicle.

Then I hear that all turbo charged, direct injection engines should use an oil that's certified HT-06 (or something like that) which both the Pennzoil & Mobile are. The Pennzoil however has more certifications than the Mobile, does this make it a better oil ? I'm so confused right now about which oil to use. The Pennzoil is more available in my area. Also, how long should I run the factory fill oil ? Some say change it right away, some say 500 miles, 1000 miles ? I don't tow anything so no severe duty at all.

Welcome to BITOG Fasttimez! We would recommend Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5W-30 with PurePlus Technology for your 2015 Ford F150 2.7 EcoBoost. The 'PurePlus Technology' in Pennzoil Synthetics refers to our new formulation using our patented gas-to-liquids process that converts natural gas into a high quality full synthetic base oil (Pure) and blending that with our unique additive formulation (Plus). Quality motor oils are also approximately 18-20% additives, so having the properly balanced/technologically advanced additive package to go along with that pure synthetic base oil is critical to producing a truly “step-above” finished motor oil.

Our Pennzoil Ultra Platinum meets several OEM oil specification as well as the Honda/Acura HT. Feel free to reach out to us with any additional questions you may have! - The Pennzoil Team

Did you pick'r up???

I have been thinking about purchasing one. I will wait for a price on one like they are pricing the left over 2014s. Besides I will let you do the testing to work out any bugs,I really like the setup though.
