Oil for clippers

Your concern about contamination with regular oils isn't something I'd thought about. Thanks for bringing that up ... worth looking into.
You can thank This Old House for that one. Ive been watching it for decades and every now and then I pick up something that comes in handy.
 
I generally spray our various clippers with ballistol. But I would t hesitate to at least coat the exposed surfaces with residues from an oily or lanolin coated rag.
 
This should not require any special stuff. Motor oil is fine. Biggest thing is clean the debris off after use as plants are acidic. Fine steel wool the blades, and and any oil will do fine.
