I bought a car, had fresh Mopar 5w-20 put into it, and now it's just sitting for several months while I drive my other cars. Is the oil I'm using acceptable or should I switchover to Mobil 1 High Mileage (for cleaning properties) or Extended Performance (upto 1 year) or some other oil?

No, that oil is good for 5000 miles or one year.

It's a rare car that is hard to find. When I DID find one with only 27,000 miles I grabbed it. It gets 70 miles/gallon so it will pay for itself in ~$7000 gas saving per 100,000 miles.

What car?

2006 silver insight (I have two; one that is near end-of-life and the one in storage that's near new). I want a good oil that will protect the engine while it's sitting in winter weather and hot sun.

Not operating any fresh oil will serve the same purpose, oil mostly deteriorates with use not time...
