Whatever cheapest SM or SL rated dino you can find. I have used Wal-Mart Supertech in all my small engine applications with no problems.

I have always used Mobil 1 15W-50 in my air cooled engines with fantastic results. While I am not sure of the new SM rated oils and the affect it will have on these engines, I expect the same performance.

Just so you know, here in South Florida, generators pressed into service by hurricanes, failed due to many issues. But a large number of them had rod/crank bearing failures. Mostly due to improper oil and high temperatures/loads.

In fact, my Honda water pumps failed quite early on Pennzoil, lasted much longer on Mobil 1 15W-50. I since swiched to Kawasaki/Subaru robin engines and Mobil 1 with no failures yet.

By the way, my 11HP Robin Genset is still working properly after an incredible number of hours and 2 generator heads later. 50 hour Mobil 1 oil changes still result in clean oil!

I've been using some older SL rated MaxLife Synthetic 10w30 in our air cooled engines with what seem to be excellent results. This seems to be a very robust non-botique synthetic based on the many Euro spec approvals.

Cost really isn't an issue with the small quantities these little motors use and I like the extra temperature margin of a synthetic compared to conventional oils .... plus I have a bunch of this oil thanks to AutoZone clearance sales
