I will be picking up my 2010 Corvette Coupe this weekend. I am undecided which oil to use in this beast! I recall reading that the oil must meet GM's spec GM4718M. The dealer has told me that Mobil 1 is the factory fill and should be used. I am a PP fan and was hoping that I would be able to use it without voiding the warranty. There is way too much information on the web and I was hoping to make sense of it all on BITOG. I plan on keeping track of all oil changes for warranty sake. TIA for some insight!

Thats quite a list. Thanks for posting it! I have to join the Corvette forums still but figured I would have luck posting here first!

You're welcome.

I tried several Corvette forums and ended up only using corvetteforum dot com. It's the biggest and seemed to be the best place to get current information and help with problems. A couple of the others are pretty good too.

Edit: Arcographite woke me up and I realized it's 2010. He is right about dexos1.

Here's list of that and PP is also on that list now.

HDEO fans, note the comment about using dexos2 in euro gasoline engines

I thought Dexos1 didn't come into effect until the 2011 models. Any 4718 oil should be ok on a 2010, I would think.

I use PP in my cars but if I had a Corvette I would probably stay with Mobil 1. Practically all the Corvette guys think it is the only oil to use. If you re-sell the Vette the new owner will likely believe that. The dealer might even give you some static if you don't use it and have a problem.

Even though I'm not a big fan of Mobil 1, I'd say stick with the Mobil 1. As previously mentioned, it'll look better on paper, say in the future you decide to sell the car, and the new owner sees all those Mobil 1 receipts.

You can use the PP, but why would you? M1 has a long track record with Corvette. If you haven;t been to the Museum in Bowling Green KY you should go. Pretty interesting exhibit on how Mobil and GM have worked hand in hand as the Corvette developed from a nice little two seater to a world class high performance vehicle. Enjoy the car, and hook up with your local Corvette Club. I've had one for four years (C6 convertible) and truly enjoy it. Great time of year to own one with Parade season coming up.

Real quick... The oil to use in your 2010 Corvette is whatever Oil came from the Dealer showroom with it, or most likely either Mobil 1 or Pennzoil PLATINUM with it, though ultra would be good too. 5w30...... I believe thats what it comes with whether it is the Base model, Z06, or ZR1.

Congrats on your new Corvette. You are as fast as a Lamborghini. Straight up.

EDIT: DANG not even ONE person mentioned a grade, just Brand? Two months ago there was a big brew-ha-ha over whether or not Corvette still said Mobil 1 on the cap. OP, does your car say Mobil 1 on the cap?

I have to agree. 80% of us say use Mobil 1 in this car. it will be absolutely fine, as Corvette people that use plain Vanilla m1 from day one (in whatever grade) have a SPOTLESS engine.

You COULD use Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra if you wanted but why change a good thing. Mobil 1 5w30 was the recommendation on some guy's 08.

Most posts Ive read here show vette and LS guys being happier with edge or PU. May be Just a bad memory? I would pick one brand and run that if you dont have any real problems with it. And I dont mean 10 ppm variances on a used oil analysis. I would prob get a GM part # Dexos1 if I wasnt brave enough to run Redline
