Oil for 2008 Tundra 5.7L

I just got a 2008 Tundra 5.7L with about 70K miles in the last month. Right now it's on Toyota 5W20 from the dealership. I was thinking of running 0W20 Toyota oil year round since we get pretty cold winters here and I already use it in my wife's Prius.

Any comments? Any better suggestions? How are these 5.7L Toyota's on oil?

Not as cold as you, but I run my 04 150 5.4 3V (bottom end is nails; top end is sensitive) on MC 5-20 w 4k OCI. Great combo. If I were to go to 5k or more OCI I would be going Mobil 1 5w20.

I may get slammed, but I don't think you could go wrong with Mobil 1 0w20 or Mobil 1 5w20. My choice is Mobil 1 5w20 or Pennzoil Platinum 5w20. Nice truck BTW.

CATERHAM would buy you a beer for using Toyota 0W-20.

Its one of the very few Toyota engines that doesn't consume oil, so it should be fine.

The owners manual does say the engine can take 0W20 or 5W20 in all temperature ranges. I am just wondering if there is a better choice out there than the Toyota oil? I can get it cheaper than M1, so I'd rather use it (unless M1 has a big advantage in this engine).

Biscut, thanks for the compliment about the truck. So far I love it, great ride, TONS of power and actually not to bad on fuel for a truck.

I am looking at running 5K mile intervals.

friend of mine had a 2007 Tundra 5.7 that when he got rid of it last year had 86,000 hard, hard miles, all on royal purple 5w30 and 10W30. tach at toyota dealer told him to run a 30 wt cause of the heat down here. truck went through every kind of [censored] imaginable,(including having the muffler and cats cut off and running 3 inch straight pipe from the manifolds, LOUD!!!!) and it never missed a beat.

For 5K OCI, I like the Motorcraft 5W-20 or the Mobil 7500 if you can find it. The Toyota 0W-20 or Mobil 1 5W or 0W-20 would also work well, but may be overkill for 5K OCI.
