Starting bid was $500,000 some time ago. Id pay that if i could. I saw it at an Auto show, some time ago.

This is an actual car and claimed top speed was above 250MPH, same as other cars with Turbos do..

So! If you had this car.. Oil?

http://www.geekalerts.com/original-batmobile-at-ebay/

From article: "The car is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide. The chassis is custom built and the motor is a Chevrolet 350. There an o doors on the door. To get in you have to be able to enter through the top where the canopy opens, just like in the movie. "

I thought they made the Jet Turbine function somehow.

LOL is that a 1989 Batmobile? It looks like a 1998 Batmobile. Is that movie that old? Where did time go?

I actually thought it was 1989 because i saw that movie when i was 8 years old! And it was the "1995" Auto show, IIRC..

Yup, i/we are OLD!

If you dropped it out of an airplane at 30,000ft it still wouldn't hit 250mph.All that drag and a 350 motor wouldn't do it.

You seem to be inferring the Jet Turbine was NOT Functional!!!!!

I saw it listed as "Top Speed: 270MPH+" at car show.

Not AFAIK. I heard it was basically a flamethrower, and what actually drove the car was a plain-old piston engine.

Wow. it SUCKS when your parents lie to you about "How GM Really made that car! And they put a Jet Turbine on it and made it just for the movie!"

someone was giving away THE batmobile from the 89 movie

I agree! that thing is not that aerodynamic, and it looks really heavy!

Not a chance. As has been said, that's not exactly an aerodynamically-shaped car.

Well, the car really was made just for the movie, and it was made out of a GM car (widened and lengthened 1969 Impala frame), and used in commercials for OnStar... but it wasn't made BY GM.

Was the Batmobile that Adam West drove in the 1960's a Ford? I liked the lines of that one better.

I thought it had a Jet Turbine and that length helped it stay on the ground.
