oil filters

is it ok to change oil filters like trying them out ,cuz i went from amsoil to mann now i wanna try wix.

i say go for it, but if the filter is mounted vertical then you should put some oil in there to prevent a dry start.

yeah its mounted vertical (straight)..how much oil should i put in the filter? usualy i dont put oil when replacing the filter

Its gonna dry start no matter what - the oil in the galley will drain out when the filter is removed. If you prefill a filter, now you have a slug of oil in between the pump and the gallery - which are now both full of only air. I dont know if thats a good thing. I still usually prefill though. Its great to pull the injector system fuse (if it exist separately) then you can crank and prime the car without starting.

Keep filling multiple times until its almost full, maybe 1/4" down the exit. This filling may take three times/tries since the filter slowly soaks up the oil like a sponge. Just dont overfill - it makes a mess.

Sorry, dont know what you drive, man. Wix or Purolator classic work well on my Yaris. Better than the toyota filter made in thailand for sure. Some times its a combo of oil grade AND filter that make the magic happen. What oil U running on the car we dont know about .... yet?

I go back and forth between the wix and the purolator classic. Can you feel the VVTi working differently with each filter like I can on my yaris 1.51NZ-FE motor?

not really..but i think i get more kick with mann,maybe its just in my head..which filter does your motor like more?

seems like a waste of time and money to me. not only are u blowing money on oil filters left and right, but you're also wasting oil and unnecessarily polluting. all oil filters are pretty much the same just get one with metal end caps like a purolator or wix and be done with it

I doubt an engine is going to run any better or worse based on what oil filter is used ... unless one of them is defective or so restrictive that it actually starves the engine of oil flow (highly unlikely).

The only real thing you might perceivable see different by using different oil filters is the engine noise at cold start ups.

yeah like the gas pedal feels looser ..then again maybe its just in my head

next OC i will use wix and see which one i like the most,and stick to one.

2 OC'S ago when i had amsoil filter in my car i didnt like how my filter looked when changed the oil..like there was a coat of black crusted oil covered on it..i dont know what it was.Any of you guys have ideas?
