Oil filters from Amazon...

Just purchased a Fram Ultra 7317 from Amazon, got it for $4.07 with my Discover points. I will be using it with Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 when the Accord hits 125K. My question is, has anyone ordered oil filters online, specifically Amazon and had any problems? As far as original packaging being tampered with, dents in oil filter, dirty oil filter, etc. Or are they generally in good shape with no problems. I always inspect my oil filters before buying, but when ordering online I obviously can't inspect it.

I've bought several filters online before and never had a problem. I got the Ultra that I'm using now from Amazon.

I've purchased some Mann and Mahle filters on Amazon and never had a problem. I think folks run into trouble on Amazon when the purchase is actually from a 3rd party vendor who sells through Amazon. I always look to see who is actually selling the merchandise before ordering from Amazon.

That said, lately I've been getting filters for my European cars from Rock Auto. Their prices for what I order beat Amazon hands down, and I never worry about quality from RA.

I can get great pricing on filters (like Fram, Puros, MC, AC Delco, Bosch, M1) for my domestic cars locally at Blain's Farm & Fleet, so I never order those on line.

I have bought oil, air and cabin filters several times from Amazon with no issues at very good prices.

I think a minimum of $75 for free shipping...

Online, I would prefer to buy these products from Amazon since I think they will turn over their stock faster.

A filter and some other parts I purchased from other internet retailers seemed a little old to me.

For future cellulose filter purchases I would just go into a retail store as they are mostly being sold at fair prices.

I got my oversized Ultra 3980s off Amazon, all for $5.30 before they jacked up the price, man those were a sweet deal. All came in original boxes with seals intact and no damage.

Brand new goods in sealed factory packaging.

I always buy from Amazon and not the affiliated retailers that sell there.

I agree, if it ships from Amazon LLC chances are you'll get very fresh stock, and the packaging will be overdone, if anything.

The closest thing I've ever had to a bad experience buying filters from Amazon was that one time I tried to get a couple of Mann cartridge filters for my RAV4. The picture on Amazon showed the style with potted plastic end caps and synthetic medium - when I got the filters, they were the capless design with a paper medium. I returned them under Amazon's standard return policy with no fuss.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy filters from Amazon again, and I recommend them to anyone.
