Oil filter storage question...shelf life...

Old thread, I know but didn't want to start a new one. I was going to ask the same question but there's a lot of good info here. I'm probably going to buy Fram Xtended Guard filters for the Toyota and Honda. On ebay, they cost about $6.99/each when you buy a 6 pack. That should take 3-4 years on each vehicle to go through them.

As long as I store them correctly I feel confident they'll be fine. I'll put them in plastic bags and put them in the closet.

I'm not sure if I should LOL or be concerned....

I believe he's trying to offer as likely an absurd answer to an absurd question. Quite clever really...

+1 ... sealed in a zip-lock bag and stored inside where the temperature and humidity is more even.

Buying staple goods in quantity like filters is smart. If you think your filter will always be in stock, think again. Inventory levels are at record lows right now. Nobody wants to carry a lot of extra stock.

Plus walking to my storage is so much more convenient than taking a trip every time.

I found a bunch of random oil filters in a warehouse that were from the late 80s/early 90s and gave a couple of them (Frams to be exact) to a buddy with an old 70s GMC truck. He's been using them without any problems.

Isn't that how Michael Jackson used to sleep?
