Hey guys what do you suggest for an oil filter for a 450-500 wheel horsepower 2019 Accord. Those are just power estimates until my build is complete.

Mods:

Intake
Bigger turbo
Flex fuel kit
Downpipe 200 cell cat
Full 3 inch exhaust
Direct port methanol injection
Oil catch can
600hp rated black intercooler
Hard aluminum intercooler piping
540 rat enhanced: 5w30 Quaker State Full synthetic oil
Mobil 1 Synthetic multi vehicle formula (10 speed automatic transmission)

I narrowed it down to Wix Xp, Purolator boss, Fram racing HP 17. The by pass valve on the Wix is 8-11 psi the fram is listed at 16-28 psi. The Purolator boss is 14-18 psi. The problem with the HP 17 Fram is while it flows a lot more gpm the filtration rate efficiency is 95% compared to 99.x% on the other two filters, but I guess the stock oil pump wouldn’t even be able to crank that much out in the little 4 banger. Which filter would you guys suggest ? There is a Motorcraft fl816 that fits physically but it’s almost an inch shorter and I’d be losing a lot of filtration media with that one and they discontinued the exact one, the fl822, that fit my car.

Thanks !

You'll be good with any euro rated 40 grade like mobil 1 0w-40. But I think I'd rather use Mobil 1 15w-50 which isn't that thick at 4.5 hths and will shear down to 4.0-4.1 but that's still plenty.

Though I'm more concerned about that little transmissionverse 10 speed taking on that much power. I think I've read somewhere it being rated for only 280ft of torque and that's almost what the 2.0t puts out and the 2.0 is the strongest engine honda dares to pair it with. Honestly I don't know if I'd do it.

As for the filter I'd use the new carquest EP filter with wire backing. But that 10 speed is the weak point. If that 2019 had the 6 speed manual sure it can take it. Stock clutch wouldn't be happy in the long run but the rest of it can take it better than the 10. I'd look into doing a transmission swap since honda made the accord with a manual until 2020 but that adds more to it.

Without knowing at what micron the efficiency percentage is useless. I know the Boss is 99%@46 microns and the Fram HP is 94%@20 microns. I believe the Wix XP is around the Boss efficiency.

540RAT oil recommendations are useless unless your engine is a “one armed bandit”

Only filter in this planet I would like to use for best protection as possible on vehicles that you love is carquest premium from AAP or STP XL from autozone.

until some one find a flaw and we move on to next flavor of the month on BITOG lol

I'll go with the guys before me and suggest A3/B4 full SAPS dedicated turbo oil (with priority to 0W-40):
Mobil 1 0W-40 FS Euro Car Formula
Mobil 1 5W-40 FS Euro Car Formula
Amsoil 0W-40 FS European
Amsoil 5W-40 FS European

Not sure how Quaker State 5W-30 would handle the turbo temperatures. A dedicated A3/B4 turbo oil will handle it much better for sure.

Which filter would you guys suggest ?

I would consider also the stock S2000 filter. Current part #: 15400-PCX-306, former part #: 15400-PCX-004
People say it's made by Mahle and using synthetic media. I used to drive my 90s Civic with it a couple of times. It's a thick filter and always was more expensive at the dealer than the other Honda filters.

The STP ones do look solid I’ll have to check it out.

I’m not sure if that filter will physically fit I’ll have to look into it though thanks.

With the stock oil pump, the oiling system doesn't operate any differently regardless how much HP the engine makes.

The Fram HP17 is more efficient than the other two - Wix XP and Purolator Boss. 99% @ 40+ microns is less efficient that 94% @ 20u.

S2000 size filters will not fit Accords with K20c4. Been there done that, got the shirt and the extra filters I can’t use.

Accords won’t even fit the M1-104/PH3593 size filters. You’re stuck with the 7317 size filters or the shorter 6607s.
