Oil Filter Preservation Insanity?!

I used to collect beer cans.
FWIW when I lived by the beach it would have been best practice. Maybe better just to spray them with some oil and bag them.
I lost two of my favorite trucks to rust there (68 F100 and 75 Tradesman), almost as bad as a Midwest salt state.

OP, the various threads you have made dedicated to oil filter comparisons, lucas nonsense and now shrink wrapping oil filters is .. well.. concerning. I'll keep the rest to myself and simply say, good luck with your endeavors.

Compared to the OP's method, I find it to be easier, faster and cheaper to take a roll of Costco or Sam's Club heavy plastic wrap, then wrap an entire oil filter, using plastic tape to seal the ends and put it back in its box. That costs less than a penny.

Jaguar branded filters (Mann made) have had the open ends of their white filters covered for decades now. The Mann branded version (black) are not vacuum sealed, but covered none the less.

I stand corrected. I just looked at my Mann filters again and they do not have a cover on the open end, even though the Jaguar filters, which are made by Mann do. The Bosch Premium filters for the Jag have a semi-rigid, cellophane-like cover. None of the other Bosch premium filters I my collection have this cover.
I wonder if such a cover is ever spec'd by an engine manufacturer?
