Here is just some of my stash. Only some. This is the stuff I can easily get too lol. Tomorrow some of it will be gone because brother in law is coming for an oil change and I’m supposed to change the oil in moms car too. I’m a hoarder. I always try to have at least one change ready for each vehicle. Sometimes more. As you can see I’m not bias on brands. I used to be but not anymore after I learned more about oil. I still do like my Castrol and Valvoline best though. And yes my basement is a mess lol. I have over 40 single quarts of oil stashed in my Beetle and several 5 quart jugs too of the same oil from when Walmart had it closed out. I enjoy buying oil. Most of this like the Pennzoil and Mobil 1 was a work surprise when I just tell them to order me however many quarts of this type of oil and don’t specify brand. He has gotten me Fram, STP, Mobil 1, Pennzoil all of it lol. I don’t have room for it all in one place.

I've heard of this and still don't understand exactly what is happening. So you buy their new oil and then return the waste oil asking for free new oil "under warranty" in return for only the cost of return shipping... and this company willingly goes along with this... and stays in business??

I wanna try the Molygen. And I wanna take advantage of the FCP system lol.
But it also seems like my van does experience some oil consumption: 1qt/2500 miles. Does FCP require the used oil to be at full capacity when it's sent back? Or are they somewhat lenient on that?

Walmart had a clearance sale with free shipping. Some people here claim it was taking advantage of an error on Walmart's part, but if that was the case, they would have cancelled the order. I think it was to clear inventory to make room for new product, and being hazardous waste, they couldn't just throw it out. It would have cost more for them to dispose of it legally through a licensed hazardous waste facility then to sell it for what they did.
if you take your used oil there they will be disposing it as hazarous waste

This whole wall used to be antifreeze. @gman2304 seems interested in the next delivery of my last remaining stack of that.. just ask @97K15004WD lol!

Oil was mentioned, so.. this is what I got. Note the 2 jugs in the milk crate, lower left.

my Subaru break-in oil - Motul 10W-40 Mineral Oil - is in the box on the ground in the foreground. I probably need more as per @Trav method 📦

It's not that precise...I just fill the jugs best I can. I have a large container I use for all of our vehicles' oil so there is always extra.

Buy parts/oil/whatever. The only thing that is not applicable to the LRG (Lifetime Replacement Guarantee) are things that are "used up" so a can of fuel injector cleaner for instance, shop supplies/brake cleaner, etc. etc.

Use the part.

Buy the replacement part. You are now in for 2x the cost.

Return the old part. You cover shipping.

Get store credit (used to give you a refund) for the value of the part.

That's really it.

Just think about it.....FCP has had excellent profits and has grown. They aren't loosing money. How?

Most folks aren't doing this b/c it requires work and being organized...like a rebate.

Those that do are also...buying more stuff. New store credit policy handles that.

Many things you never return b/c you sell the car, they part doesn't wear out, "no way that I can really return my used oil change kit" etc.

It's a nice system for those that want to be into it but most folks while saying they will use it never will on the majority of the things they buy there. I have 3x VWs and have used this extensively for all my maintenance items on those vehicles. I bundle my returns to maximize savings on shipping - this year I'll have one large return worth about $350 in store credit. I use pirate ship.com for discounted shipping.

All of this is spelled out on their website, nothing is hiding, they explain it all including that controversial used oil return. They aren't hiding how to do it or what you can return.

I have taken it to mine once, a long time ago, but they made a production out of it.

I had heard if you sell oil you have to receive used oil but that would probably depend on location.

my neighbor works for NAPA and he collects used oil/filters from municipalities and other companies. He thinks it goes to somewhere near the port of Houston to be slightly filtered and then placed onto various boat fuels tanks, once they are 25 miles out to sea they fire up the dirty engines. So he said.

That's quite an education you just gave me. Thank you. I don't find the cost of my new oil significant enough to warrant my time and labor on shipping used oil around, but maybe when I retire and have more time on my hands, I'll reconsider my position. However, that LiquiMoly is very good stuff.

It's not a huge time suck here....no more than folks spend dealing with rebates.

It's a mental disorder.
As long as it doesn't disqualify me from Federal employment, I'll be mentally ill like Joaquin Phoenix Joker not even Heath Ledger Joker with some very choice motor oils being my use of choice.... Newark NJ and NYC filming locations, btw. Excellent.

Oh and JP was a "better" Joker. Just sayin'.

What's the point of buying more oil than you can use, even at a discount? Then you're still not really maximizing your savings because you bought a surplus.
My stash is actually in decline. I'm almost out of my Maxlife and I'm halfway through my Castrol HM and Carquest selection.

Not much clearance oil the last few years.

If oil is ~$2/qt, I buy it. It'll get used.

I'm guessing the folks that cry foul on deals like this are just the ones that missed out on them. My grocery store makes pricing errors, to the customers determent, most any time I shop there. So I'm not too concerned if a billion dollar company has an error the other way, not that I think they did.
Yeah one night late my local King Soopers had new stickers on their Watermelon. I picked up two. They rang up $100 each. The cashier just told me to take them as apparently someone with the pricing machine didn't pay attention.
