Oil filter help

Good day

When I replaced my old engine, the builder recommended the NAPA Nascar Select Oil filter #91060. I got a case from the old NAPA store that went out of business, Now I need more and can’t seem to find them. Does anyone know where you can get these?

Which WIX filter is the closet match to the NAPA Nascar Select Oil filter #91060? 51060 or 51061? The car is street driven and run in time trials.

The new numbers are the 1060 which has an adbv. the 1061 does not. so call it 91060 51060 and they are the same. If your filter sits vertical you do not need the valve . If it sits horizontal , it does. so any filter with the last 4 digits 1060 or 1061 will work.

Not seeing that part number listed on the napafilters.com web site. Listing the vehicle & engine will get you an accurate response.

Just make sure that you do not get the filter that is actually for racing which sacrifices filtration for excellent high psi flow.

This should be right.

One additional filter IF you have the room for it and do not need the Anti-drain back valve...in other words your filter basically hangs down from the engine ...you can use the wix 51794. This filter is about 2.7 inches longer. Holds more oil.

So basicaly a longer version of the 51061.


Fo the Napa number drop the first digit. 51061 becomes 1061 in Napa. 51794 becomes 1794 in Napa.

Yes, depending on your application, the NAPA/Wix racing filters are not the best choice. They are basically rock catchers. As mentioned, the NAPA Gold is likely the better choice.

For a better recommendation, please give us your engine, application and intended use.

383/450hp Chevy with a Oil Pump: Melling Performance HV oil pump and a Oil Pan: Canton 6 quart Road Race Oil Pan. The application is that it is street driven, but also run in time trials at Lime rock and Pocono. I hope to get it to Lightning and Thunderbolt in New Jersey on 2012.

When they did not have the NAPA Nascar Select Oil filter #91060, I went for the NAPA Platinum. I am not sure what the difference between NAPA Gold and NAPA Platinum is

Since the engine is a Chevy small block, the oil filter screws up into the block. So I always fill the oil filter with oil on oil changes before I screw it into place.

So from what I am getting from the replies, the NAPA Nascar Select Oil filter #91060 is more porus for better flow for racing, while the Gold and Platinum may offer finer oil filtration? Correct?

Your setup sounds like a pretty high volume oil pump, so I would recommend the NAPA Platinum (wire backed synthetic media) or similar filter as these seem to flow better than the typical paper media filters.
