Once again I need advice for my 96 Camaro SS. Want to know what's the best oil filter for this car. All comments welcomed. please help.

IMO, Delco Gold (UPF series) or Mobil 1, either for longer OCI or use w/ synthetic oils, save some $$ and go w/ Purolator Pure One or even cheaper the regular Delco filter is of excellent quality.....Use the 1st filter on my 10K mile LT-1 (Iron Head)powered Impala with the Mobil One 0W-40 changed over from 5W-30 M1 just last week...

Mobil One synthetic 75-90 in the rear w/ 4 oz GM lube and valvoline syn blend PS fluid and Tranny fluid (w/ 10oz Lubeguard Red and the deeper Silverado tranny pan)...Dexcool every 4 years, brake fluid next , been "negligant" bout that, flush and refill, looking for DOT4 ATF Blue...

Will a pf1218 equivalent fit?

Yep! I run the K&N HP3002 on my LT1 Firebird, it's a perfect fit with tons of room to spare, and it is the same size as the PF1218.

This K&N gets my vote for the best filter for the LT1. I have seen excellent oil analysis results with this filter and my oil pressure gauge shows me that this filter flows very well.

In a PF1218 size......My picks would be baldwin, amsoil, ac delco duraguard, or K&N.

Before I say more, if you truly want best hard to match a Bypass filter set up.

The Trasko bolt on filter seems to be the "easiest" one.

The Amsoil Dual Remote also seems fairly straight forward.

For regular filters:

Personally, the AC Delco Ultraguard and K&N are my favs

AC Delco Duraguard 'blue'

AC Delco Ultraguard 'black'

Bosch

K&N Performance Gold

Mobil 1

Purolator Premium Plus

Purolator PureOne

Motorcraft
