I recently bought a 2nd generation Toyota 4runner 91 with a V6 and it appears that a longer FL-400s would be a very close call in length. Has anybody been able to run a longer filter other than the factory size?
I've really wanted to do this on my 3.0 v6 also, but don't know what filters would fit and have the same psi bypass valve.. for reference guys the origonal size filter is a ST 3614, kinda small for our size engine to me.
Thanks for the info! so besides being a little over an inch longer, the fl400s and origonal size 3614 should be about the same.
I think the fl400s is the way I'm gonna go then, because it has a silicone adbv which would come in handy for the way the filter sits. (at a bit of a right angle, upside down)
well I got one today and held it under there, looks like something metal is going to keep me from putting it in... gonna take the skid plate off and put it on some ramps to get a better look at what it is and if I could file it down or something.

An ACDelco PF-53 would work also. Its the same size as stock 3614 but probably has the most stuffing in it. Ive got one on my V6 tundra. I run a FL-400S on my tercel, and my tundra will get it when its out of warranty.
