oil filter for 2 OCIs

It doesn't matter if the dip stick is calibrated or not. If engine(A) takes 5 qt's of oil with filter(B) and the dip stick reads a little low and then you take the oil out and the filter off of engine(A) and put on filter(C) and put in 6 qt's of oil and the oil is still a little low then filter(C) holds 1 more qt. of oil than filter(B). That is about as simple as I can put this and have changed the oil in my "S" 5 times and will do the sixth oil and filter change this weekend, and it will take(1) one more qt. of oil than the car would if I ran the stock oil filter for the S2000. I have also helped other members of our club change there oil and they also to took one more qt. of oil than they did before.
So if the Baldwin B7042 holds 32oz. of oil and the car takes one more qt. of oil than before then that means the stock S2000 oil filter held no oil by your math, hence the magic oil filters.

Like I said, the only accurate way to know what each filter holds is to actually measure how many ounces it take to fill each filter using an accurate measuring cup.

Relying on the dipstick is only an estimate at best. I think you'll be surprised that the difference between how much the OEM filter and how much the Baldwin filter holds in term of how many ounces is nowhere near 1 qt difference. It's impossible, because just an empty can the size of the Baldwin B7042 holds 1 qt total (with no guts in it), so how can the difference between the two filters be 1 qt?

There is obviously something "magic" going on, and it's not the filters or the math.

why don't you just open a fresh quart of oil--and see how much that super size filter will actually swallow-the quarts have oz markings on the side

From some of the pics of cut open filters I think I will never do a 2 in 1 with any filter. I bet any of the top brands could do 20,000 miles in a perfect world but if you get one which some have with a defect you would be using a defective filter for 2x as long as you would if you changed it.

If I were to be very cheap but still protecting my investment and i lived in the states I would use supertech oil in a syn or blend whichever I needed and I would get a box of filters on sale and use one per oci. I would do a 4000mile oci on the dino and a 7000 mile oci on the syn. The mileage would be adjusted closer to what the manual reccomends if it wasnt close.

I do at least soak all my filter elements with some oil maybe 1/2 full. But on a turbo engine the filter will be full as possible and will reccomend that to all with a turbo.

Keep a supply of your old athletic socks and slip one over the filter after you loosen it. Catches nearly all the overflow.
