That is why I asked what year. Fits on an LS1 Trans Am perfectly.

Some filters do not have any grip indentations (or not very pronounced ones) around the end of the can, so one cannot use an end cap/socket type wrench on them.

(I think the Amsoil EaOs are like this??)

Its a 79 4.9 with the filter horizontal 3387a filter. The end cap adapter is working. Normally I don't put it on tight enough to need a wrench at all.
