I need a filter cutter where can i get one so it makes it easier to cut open filters. I have an engine shop so i can cut a lot of used filters.

Tell me where i can get something reasonably cheap i will try to post results

Harbor frait carry's them for under $30. A tail pipe cutter can also work. Or you could do what one of our members did and engineer one yourself.

I use my HF pneumatic cutter. I puncture a hole in the dome and let them drain overnight or so. Then I cut them over the trash can.. its high enough I can rest my arm and make a pretty evenly spaced cut completely around the can. Looks decent afterwards.

Depending on how many you plan to autopsy, I've used a $4 can opener from Walmart to dissect the last two I wanted to see the insides of. Sure, it won't finish the job in one rotation but it took less than 10 to split the canister.

If the sealing gasket is at the edge of the filter, you'll need to remove that first or you won't be able to get the opener to rotate the filter as it cuts.
