Does anybody know if Lube Control could be used to stop/cut down oil consumption in a truck. We had changed the oil in one of our F250’s in Dec/04 at about 10000 miles. At aprox 125000 I had to add about 1 qt. Could Lube Control fix this. I have about ½ gallon left, guess I could just try it.

My 92 Camry with 171,000 was using about a quart every 3000 miles early in 2004. I went he RX route and then switched to a 15W40 to reduce consumption. It did not change, I then went back (after the Auto RX cycle and one fill of the 15W) to my 10W30 that I had used since new. Well, consumption is now down to a quart in 7500 miles or so. I used LC (pre and post the RX treatment) also but this did not seem to affect the consumption pre or post the RX treatment. I don't knwo what happened but it is a happy camper now.

I would’nt think RX would help it as it is so new. I may try the 15w40 on the next change though as we use it in all the diesel trucks we have. The F250 is an 03’ and on the change at 10000 miles I used Pennzoil 10w30. It will be interesting to see what effect if any the Delo 400 15w40 might have on oil consumption. I will just dump in 6oz of LC anyway to see what effect it may have.

My opion is that it will only help if dirty seals are the culprit. I suspect that LC would make it worse at first. It would take time for it to clean the parts up. Once they are clean so long as their is no damage to the seals the oil consuption should stop.

A quart for that much mile is normal!

I burned more oil in an old V8 Caddy after using LC. Took a while for it to clean up, later no burning or leaking. Stuff works, like erosion -slowly and steadily.

My 2000 Ranger never used a drop of oil before I did an AutoRx cleaning and started using Lube Control on a regular basis, but now it uses a little. On the current fill after 5000 miles and LC every 1000 miles, it's used maybe a third of a quart in that time judging by the dipstick. I assumed it was because the ring packs are being kept clean now so more oil gets by.
