I use my civic primarily for pizza delivery and in-town driving, so it barely sees highway usage. When driving pizza my engine is usually running continuously for multiple periods 30+min, almost all city driving. The civic is on its FIRST ever synthetic oil change and the oil got black very quickly within the first 500 miles. The oil has 2500 on it now, and im gonna replace it.
I took a 60 mile round trip drive varying between 60mph & 75mph. I checked my oil later that night after sitting for a few hours and it a golden brown color instead of black. Could that trip have burned off contaminants and excess fuel in the oil? If my oil sees continuous 30min trips of city driving for 8hrs+ shouldnt that burn off contaminants too?
ALSO. My next change will be in 5,000 miles (severe interval). I figure any sludge will be rinsed out after that, could i go 10,000 miles (normal interval) with all the city driving i do. Occasional highway usage
