Good Afternoon folks. Let’s say you have a older, carbeurated car/truck and you have in your possession Castrol GTX 10w40 SN rated and QSAD 10w40 SN rated motor oil. Which would you use? Been a long day and thought I would lighten the mood on a overcast Monday.

Have a happy Monday folks 🇺🇸🇨🇦🍻🤟🏻

Sorry to avoid the question, but I consider both brands to be excellent. Personally, I’m partial to QS, but wouldn’t hesitate to use Castrol, either.

I too would pick the QS.

Me too.

QS runs quiet in most vehicles.

I like the 10w40 being that a carburetor would be more likely to put a bit more fuel in the oil therefore dropping operational viscosity in this upcoming winter time.

This was posted by member OVERKILL in another thread, unfortunately it doesn’t include QS (which I’m sure is fine) but the GTX does OK in the Noack showdown

Just a few data points from the PQIA site:
1. Kendall GT-1 Semi-Syn 10w-40 (SN): Noack 11.7%
2. Pennzoil yellow bottle 10w-40 (SN): Noack: 12.8%
3. Chevron Supreme 10w-40 (SN): Noack: 10.8%
4. Castrol GTX 10w-40 (SN): Noack: 11%
5. Chevron Havoline 10w-40 (SN): Noack 13.1%
6. Mag1 10w-40 (SN): Noack 10.8%
7. Citgo SuperGuard 10w-40 (SN): Noack 14.6%

Here is the PQIA VOA

QS and it’s related PYB.
