Yes, it is out of the question. I would not spend $40 x 5 times = $200 to confirm what I believe to be true. However, I would spend $100 to have Blackstone add a particle count to used oil analysis (hopefully at some reduced rate) already being done for engines / filters meeting particular criteria (well running engine, 5000 mile OCI, no oil additives, no fuel additives, stuff liike that) and share that info with all the BITOG members.

I suggsted this to Tony a while back and I have not heard from him (guess he did not like the idea), I actually suggested you set up the criteria for test selection (engineering background better than us generalists).

I was only kidding around, but so you understand, I meant that if you followed the regimen I outlined above, you would do a used oil analysis+Particle Count at the end of the 15K mile OCI interval.

Then chose one of the other methods, yours included, and do a used oil analysis+Particle Count at the end of that 15K mile OCI interval.

Then compare results.

Well, I am not kidding. If you set up thge rules I will contribute $100 to have Blackstone add total particle count to used oil analysis they are doing anyway so we all get the filter info that can help us understand just how well a particular filter does in real life (especially the Super Tech filters).
