How many miles/km are you putting on in that year? I really couldn't care that much if my oil is in the car for a year or a month. It's the driving that seems to be the most relevant measurement of wear on the oil. What if in Feb 09 that oil has 30,000 km on it?

I only put on about 15,000km a yr. on that car. That's why i went that long an OCI. It's a lot of local driving, with a once a week run on the freeway to control fuel dilution.

Bosch filter " The friggin leaf spring was put in upside down like this: And the center tube only had half the holes as normal: 2nd time I've bought a Purolator clone that's been all messed up."
AC Delco filter "I personally think that AC Delco is making some cheap or defective PF46 filters. Here is what happened to me TWICE. … a year ago I had a problem when I started the truck up I had NO OIL PRESSURE on the gauge and the LOW OIL PRESSURE warning message came on. … … NOW - flash forward to this week. I take a camping trip, Truck has around 3,000 miles on the oil change - where I had to use a Delco filter (PF46) because that's all they had. I get 2 states away, stop for gas. Restart the truck - you guessed it NO OIL PRESSURE again! "
Motocraft filter " When I tried to pry the folds of the filter apart to inspect in between them, the cardboard completely crumbled apart in my fingers with almost no effort! I've never seen this happen before. … I've never seen a filter with such thin, flimsy, weak, filter material either."
ST filter "I have two problems with this filter: 1.) The gasket always seems to fall off very easily. It's happened on two out of two ST6607's I've purchased. And 2.) In this filter, the pleats are all distorted."
I've had nothing but good experiences with Fram filters, so if people think they can pay $3-4 for a filter that may be made in China, and get a decent product -- good luck with that. I don't think Fram filters are near as bad as some people make them out to be.

I used FRAM filters for over 30 yrs with no problems . Just recently changed over to M1 , only because of the Auto Zone oil change specials .

I stand by what I said about the pleat spacing of the SuperTech filters I've cut open, they're always bent and distorted. I can't say that it affected anything though, as I noticed no issues with the filter's actual service. However, what I said about the gasket falling off turns out to not really be a defect, as I learned afterwards you can just push the gasket back on. It just seems to fall off easier than other brands I've encountered. Like for instance, I was underneath the car, put some oil on the gasket and set the filter next to me, then I went to put it onto the block after I tightened the drain plug and saw the gasket sitting next to me, as I was wondering why the filter didn't sound right when it was tightening. I'd hate to not be paying attention though and putting it on without a gasket, that would be one helluva mess..

The orange fram costs about $4 and some change. For about $1 and some change more you can get a wix, purolator, or one of their clones which are put together a bit better than a fram. Most people here are somewhat anal about the lubrication system of their vehicles and choose to spend a bit more to get a bit better quality.
I will say that Frams probablly do work because they are on millions of cars. However there are better products available and most here would choose to use those better products.
I, and many here, spent a considerable amount of money on a vehicle. Trying to save less than $10 dollars a year on oil filters seems a little foolish to me.

PC-Chips and ASUS both make motherboards. And they both work. There are PILES of PC-Chips boards out there, and there are piles of ASUS boards out there. But ASUS motherboards are a million times better quality, and really aren't THAT much more money.
