Hi, last time I changed the oil in the 05 acura tsx is oct 2009. Since then, I have driven about 3000 miles, but I haven't really driven much during the winter. Do I need to change the oil now or can I wait till I reach 5000 miles or so? The color of the oil is still honey yellow. I used quaker state 5w30 for my last oil change. Thank you!

As long as you drove long enough to burn off any moisture, you shoudl be fine to go to 5K. Long enough = operating temps stabilized for 30-45mins.

I always get a little bit of butterflies in my stomach after 4 months ... but I also change my oil every 4k miles or when I have nothing better to do.
If you were my friend I would have changed it for you months ago. Oil is cheap.

thanks kaboomba; during the winter period, I moved the car in and out of garage, so I don't think I have sufficient time (to burn off all moisture. I will go ahead and change the oil this weekend. I changed the brake fluid, coolant and transmission fluid this spring because I haven't change these fluids for 5 years.
Since it's gone this long, I'd say change it this October at 1 year- even if it hasn't hit 5000 miles by then. JMO

I agree, treat it to an hours drive, and change the oil in October.

Change it you got your $$$ worth out of the oil.
If you like changing your oil, now is a logical time.
Or, run it to 5K and send it in for a used oil analysis. The results will let you know whether you can keep doing that kind of interval.
But since a used oil analysis costs 2x that of a dino/filter change, I'd probably just change it.

Draining the oil out before it's TBN is used up is sinful.
