I have a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid with 7000+ miles. I'm using MC 5W-20 Synthetic and MC filter. I change every six months because most of my driving is short trips. I realize that my 3-4 thousand mile OC is only about 70% on the ICE and probably over kill. Would a change to one year OCI be okay? TIA

I would (and have) followed whatever the manufacturer recommends in the owner's manual. For example GM states to follow the oil life monitor, but if it doesn't come on within one year to change the oil. My Mercury states 5,000 miles or 6 months.
After the warranty period is up go as long as you feel comfortable.

Without an OLM or UOA, 6 months works for most people. High or low.

OLMs have shown to be a very reliable guide to follow. As long as your manual doesn't state otherwise, I'd change it at 1 year or 10% of oil life, which ever came first
