Is there a specific oil you have used that you noticed worked better our saturns mostly the 1.9l. Any oil that actually did slow oil burning. And I've tried piston soaks with mmo seafoam, berrymans, and ac delco top engine cleaner. I use a quart every 1400-1500 miles with 10w40. Right now I'm using Valvoline conventional but Its expensive for a conventional and hasn't made any difference over Mobil . Just seeing if anyone has personally used some kind of oil that made a marked difference. Thanks guys

Have you tried to see if it uses less using 5W30. I had one and it used the least when having the correct viscosity in it. OEM PCV is also a must. Mine used way less when I went back to the OEM PCV.
When I use 5w30 it uses a quart in 600 miles

I agree with many who have stated 15w40 is a good choice.
I use any diesel oil , 15w40 ,during winter I mix 50% 10/40 with 15w40 diesel , and top off I use 10/40

Most diesels do OK (albeit, they may romp a bit) with 15w40 in them. I think you'll be fine.

I was worried about it in the winter with 15w40 but if yall think itll be ok ill just stick with it. Could get real crazy and try 20w50
how many miles in your Saturn ?
if the temperature does not goes below 40 degrees , just use rotella , delvac , delo or even supertech(15/40) , which are sm rated , you will be fine , I have done it for 3 years so far , my Saturn has 155.000 miles

In the winter it can get done to 0 easy.
in that case , just use 10/40 oil or maybe if you want do a mix 15w40 and 5w30 50% mix , diesel oil will clean your engine better than any oil.
did you change your pcv ?, I am using pcv 1009 (autozone brand) that is helping me a lot with oil consumption

I havent changed it but its clean and does rattle.

For a 13-year-old Saturn, that's really not too bad. If this was my car, I'd use 10w40 Maxlife (or any other decent high mileage oil). I suggest a High Mileage oil because my last Saturn lost more oil through the valve stem seals then through the piston rings.
