Oil Bath Filters?

On some small engines, oil-bath type air filters are used. Are these as effective as paper-element filters? Thanks.

Nope. They're just cheaper to service. They can work as a pre-filter in extremely dirty service.

I consider them garbage. I have done a number of UOA on engines that had oil bath filters, and there is a local salesman getting rich telling people they are better than paper. But the truth is you will see 8 to 10 times more silicon and 8 to 10 times more wear metals in oil with an oil bath air filter than with a decent paper filter.
