It simply diluted the 5W30 too much and caused my viscosity to drop to 7.5 cSt. If I move to a larger oil pan I may start to include it again.

Thoughts?

Whoever told you to dilute good oil with MMO which is more or less a solvent would be someone who I would never get advice from again.

MMO is for cleaning and not as some oil additive you put in a high HP engine. NEVER use that [censored] in an oil change ever. If anything, put it in your fuel for cleaning, but never a quart in a oil change.

All you are doing is destroying your engine.

MMO and Lucus additive in a new engine? No disrespect intended but all you need is some decent 15w40 diesel oil.

Yes, definitely not my brightest moment. In fact, I am very upset with myself that I did not do more homework prior to coming up with this concoction. I am convinced that it added to the high wear in the first sample. My thoughts were that it would help to suspend the dirt and metal during break-in and reduce wear. However, my logic was obviously incorrect.

I will only be running Mobil 1 Conventional oil from now on until I switch to synthetic.

At what point can I switch to a synthetic. Probably German Castrol.

Mobil 1 is a full synthetic oil. Maybe you were thinking Mobil 5000. The 7500 oil is a semi...

Much better on this fill. Go drive it around!!

I wouldn't use MMO in this engine either, no need. But as for "destroying" your engine, no.

BTW, second report much improved, looks nice.

When they grind or polish a crank metal will get in the oil holes and passages in the crank. If you dont brush them out the metal will come out and go through the bearings.

I bet thats where your lead came from.
