Oil analysis ASTM methods

I'm not sure if this is in the right section or not but this seems to be the closest match, there doesn't seem to be a section for practicing oil analysis.

I'm interested in what methods the different labs use to produce their data. Is flash point usually performed by Cleveland open cup (ASTM 92)? And is it automated or all done manually? What about insolubles, I understand it's performed in a centrifuge but I haven't been able to find an ASTM method for it. Are elements typically measured by ICP or XRF? Is water content measured by FTIR, TGA or Karl Fischer? What about anti-freeze/glycol? Is TBN usually done by FTIR or a wet titration method?

Our New Zealand lab results seem to be quite different to what you get in the US. We have elements by XRF for 10 elements although this will soon be replaced by an ICP which will hopefully measure a lot more. Water, fuel and soot (which may be what you call insolubles?) are all done by TGA for engine samples, for non-engine samples water is done by Karl Fischer. We only have one viscosity measurement, kinematic at 100 or 40°C for engines/non-engines. There is no routinely measured antifreeze or flash point but always a Ferrous PQ index. Oxidation, nitration and sulphation will soon be routine on all samples by FTIR.
 
The PQ index is a great feature that I wish was offered by the labs we frequent here.

Some use ICP ..some use AA ...
