is there really any GOOD oil additive out there that i should put in with valvoline maxlife? i've read that most of them are junk is there anything worth while to put in or should i just go with pure oil?

Good additives:

Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment (VSOT)

CD2 Street Legal High Performance Oil Boost (SLOB)

Specialty Formulation's SX-UP

VOA data on all three are on this site.

To stick with the question, jayno20 asked if there is an additive that "should" be added to valvoline maxlife.

Without some additional info, I am left with the answer "no, just use the oil". Anyone have any information that should influence my answer?

Not to hijack, but I have a question along these lines.

I have an unopened bottle of VSOT, and a high-mileage Nissan I would like to try it on. I recently(
I also have a tiny stash of Mobil Clean 5000, Pennzoil High Mileage, Castrol GTX High Mileage, and Mobil Clean 7500. Which of these oils would be the best candidate to boost with the VSOT?

I was planning on using it mainly with the Mobil Clean 5000, but am curious if any of these other oils would benefit from the added VSOT. Thanks.

Well my car doesnt burn oil or anything. It is in perfect running condition. That is why i ask about an additive. I think i've used the snypower from valvoline before, do you have a picture of the bottle? and is it something that would help anything or would i just be wasting money on it?

Yeah, I should probably just use a bit with all the different oils, and judge for myself!

My car holds 4 quarts so I was planning on adding 1oz per quart of oil, so 4 ounces total. Nearly enough for 4 doses.

Where do you guys usually buy that? i've checked a few different autoparts stores and they have the syn power brake fluid/power steering fluid/and gas additive, but no oil additive..

Yeah i've been looking for a silver bottle with valvoline on it, i used it once before and noticed it was a different lable now too. I'll check pep boys tomorrow

Yeah, the bottle I got and all the others on the shelf at the local Kragen's were the older style.

Is the formula the same? And is there any reason to get the newer stuff over the older?

I'm not sure. If they changed the formula w/the bottle, they're not obligated to tell us. All of the VOAs I've seen are on the older stuff...that's good enough 4 me.

^Well, I guess that would kinda be an upside of getting the older bottle.

Would there be any risk of "spoiling", or losing any of the positive effects, in this stype of product? Getting the older bottles that is. I guess I'm just paranoid that I'm gonna get some older stock, that doesn't work as good as some "fresher" stuff.

Also, how much of this stuff are you guys adding? It says add whole bottle, but I'm scared.

Murrays if you have one in your area. Oops. I see you are not in Indiana, but Pennsylvania. I heard that NAPA stores will special order it for you.

I have seen the Synpower Engine Treatment at NAPA, in the 32 oz platinum colored bottle, but they wanted about $13 a quart and who knows what is in it. It's thin though.

Almost every Pep Boys store here in eastern PA stock it.

BTW - The VSOT photo in your link is the "new label". All of the PBs around here still have the old label stuff on the shelves. The bottle color & shape are still the same though.
