OG Fram Ultra XG8A C&P

Wide pleat spacing just tells that it's wire backed, but not necessarily exactly what media it is. You'd have to cut open a new one and peel apart the media to see how it's layered. Here's what the Ultra pink media layers looked like back around 2016.

the wide pleat spacing is a give away and i’ve cut enough of them apart.

For me, from a picture, it's the fatness of the pleats that make the OG media more identifiable. Was harder to be sure on this one because of the size of the filter, but the date code and other visual cues say it's OG media.

On XG2, new media also has wide pleat spacing. They did not add more pleats to increase the surface area which they had claimed they did to the new Ultra to maintain holding capacity. Fram became very shady after First Brands acquisition.

In retrospect, the early Fram Ultra claims that appeared untrue were the warning sign that they were not to be trusted. And it is obvious to me now that when a company making commodity products is acquired, the first thing they will do is cut costs. So no filters for me from companies that get acquired especially by M&H or First Brands.
