You end up using a chop saw? 😄
I commend folks that can wrangle with these wire backed filters.

Filter did well, & may I ask what it was run on?

No chop saw, I rip/tear the metal ends off with large pliers.

Filter is off 07 Toyota FJ Cruiser 4.0L 1GR-FE w/a 2/3rd mix of SynTech 10k 5w30 & 1/3rdVPB "Restore" gen 1.
I sent a sample off to OAI. This will be its 15th uoa.
I'll post results when I get them in a week or two.

Did it also have the fiber ring in the end cap to seal the leaf spring?

OG media was pink (which would be hard to tell now), but 2 ply synthetic. So you might be able to separate the two layers and they should be identical.

In Sep 2021, Fram announced the new Ultra which has 2 plys which are different. Inside layer is a traditional blend which should feel different to the outside layer which is synthetic.

In the XG2 which is a deeper filter with wide spacing at the crimp, they kept the wire backing even when they moved to the new 2 ply. So the XG8A, being an even larger filter with the same wide spacing at the crimp may have retained wire backing after Sep 2021 but moved to the new media.

The true OG is wire backing and pink media and felt seal at the end cap / leaf spring interface.

The leaf spring sealing ring really isn't "felt" like you see on the end caps of some cartridge style filters. The OG leaf spring sealing ring is more like a semi-hard dense fibrous material that does compress some under the force of the leaf spring in the assembled filter. The leaf spring where it sits on the end cap seal will leave a slight impression in the material.

Time to get out the flashlight lol.
In this case it would interesting if there’s no seal there. However, it’s pre 2023, so it’s not newer generation.

See post 9 ... it doesn't have the leaf spring seal.

I don't think it's the true OG media, for a while the larger diameter filters, the XG2, XG8A XG16, still had a screen but I think they used the new style cellulose blend with a fiber glass topper instead of all glass.
it’s OG media. you can see if in the wide pleat area.
