OEM VS Premium Guard Filters

The NAPA Gold is the identical filter to the Carquest Premium but in Ontario I’ve noticed that it’s priced significantly higher. I paid $9.62 for the Carquest Premium at my local Carquest a few weeks ago. The last time I checked the price for a NAPA Gold at one of the Guelph NAPA stores it was $16

I see you are from Ont.
do you have a part source store near you ? I believe that the OE filter they sell is a PG filter or it was at one time.
Also Canadian tire has a OE labeled filter but I do not think it's a PG filter .
I think CT and part source are affiliated but use different suppliers for some products as the filters in question are not quite the same.
You are correct, the OE Plus Pro Series that is sold at PartSource (and possibly some CT locations) is a PG made filter. The OE+ (non pro series) is not PG made but is possibly a Champion Labs made filter (which could suffer from ruffled leaf springs). But the Carquest Premium is the cheapest option, the OE Plus Pro Series costs more even when it’s on sale.

Do you have a link, because I could not find this, trust me I looked!

yeah you just go to any of the Castrol synthetic filters.. like this one here : https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/...um-synthetic-oil-filter-1172710p.1172710.html , and go to the product details below it and you will see the 99% , and then go down further to specs and then at the bottom you click MORE specs and in there you can see the 25 micron rating. Some models like the one I use CAS7317 they left out the 99 which I would imagine was a screw up on part of CT because I could not imagine them flipping around the media source by model number within the same series filter.

Are these available anywhere in the US?

Seems like a solid option.

afaik not at the moment. Would be great to get them and also if they left the price at around $10 which they probably won't LOL.

Same here. Carquest Premium $9.95. %15 off online if you buy $35 and you get free ship.

NAPA same filter $14. No discount unless you buy $125.00. Pretty typical that everything at NAPA is 40% high.

I have to assume that most shopping at Napa have some sort of corporate discount.

You screen shot looks different so I thought you found the GKI specs, yes I have already looked at the Canadian Tire spec sheets and do believe they have not been updated from the older Champ made filters, that is why I emailed GK.

Removes 99% of dirt particles found in oil, on the CT filter listing, has now been replaced with:
  • Designed for peak performance
Anyone else seeing this?

The way you know it was updated is because it shows filter media designated as fibreglass synthetic and the Champ was the typical blend media.

Just got my shipment in today. These are nice looking filters

I don't trust Canadian Tire, it's their spec sheet, they could have just changed that line, and left the 25 microns because they don't know either.
They haven't changed any of the burst pressures, how can two different manufactured filters have the exact same burst pressure?
