A buddy and I went to Honda to purchase some OEM Oil filters for his S2000. He received 2 made in Japan and 2 made in the USA. Yes, the oil filters had the same part number on the stickers but on the filter 2 said made in Japan and the other 2 said made in the USA.

I'm not sure if this is already well known. If so, anyone cut up the Made in Japan vs. Made in USA S2000 oil filter for comparison?

Interesting; I was under the impression that all the oil filter for the S2000 were made in Japan only (by Toyo Roki). Didn't think there was any made in the USA. Is it made by Fram?

I was under that same impression as well. I told my buddy about them being made in Japan, and lo and behold, 2 of them said Made in USA even though the sticker with the part# labeled them the same part#. I didn't see Fram anywhere, but I'll try and get one of them from him and take a much closer look at it.

After seeing this post, I looked at H and A Accessories website thinking I may want to purchase a quantity of existing filters. The part number is the same, 15400-PCX-004, but they have now added in the description "This is the new filter that Honda has just released". Interesting.

Some of the U.S. Honda filters are made by Filtech, and others are made by Fram/Honeywell. The ones in Japan are made by Toyo Roki/HAMP (iirc). The Filtech filters i've heard are better than the Frams.

ThirdeYe,

Yes, what you said is true and well known...for the oil filters made that is Honda's "standard" oil filter fitting a wide range of cars from Acura RSX, Honda civics, accords, cr-v's, etc.

The S2000 had its own recommended oil filter and a different part number from Honda's "standard" filter. It was the S2000's oil filter that, up until recently, was only made in Japan.

What is surprising now is that, what used to be considered Honda's "best" filter was for the S2000 and only made in Japan is now also being built in the USA. It has not yet been determined who makes the S2000 oil filter made in USA. Filtech? Fram/Honeywell? The jury is still out on that one.

Hi guys, I've put some pics of these filters online. Find them here if you're interested. I bought a 6 pack of these from H and A Accessories online, they all appear to be Made in the USA. My filters are all labeled by "Filtech" so I don't think these are a product of Fram.

Also, S2ki has a thread concerning these filters, I've also posted my link to the filter pics on that site as well.
