So I left my house this morning and got on it to hear my new air intake system. And when I shifted to 3rd it felt like the throttle hung when I pushed the clutch in and then it started running rough and was stumbling. It only did it for a couple seconds. I pulled over to inspect everything and everything looked OK. Drove it 50 miles after that and no issues since. I've tried to make it screw up but nothing...... the only thing not 100 % wasthe hose on the front of the valve cover was unhooked. It hooks into the air filter hose. I don't think that was the cause. I drove like that the rest of the day no issues. I have since plugged it back in. Oil is good coolant is good. Runs great. I'm starting to question if I missed a shift? I don't think I did but since I cannot duplicate the issue idk. engine lights. I'm lost throttle cable and all that looks fine. Nothing is obviously wrong so im confused. Any help would be great.

You put that spectre cold air kit on it didn't you

It's possible. I know this happened with my camaro after an intake mod. Or maybe I was just imagining things.

What car is this? If you have a MAF, any air that can get in bypassing the MAF will cause that sort of thing. I've seen VWs surge and throw lean codes because the dipstick wasn't fully seated and Fords that get a surging idle if the air filter isn't properly seated allowing turbulent airflow over the MAF.

Which can be completely avoided by simply using a stock style intake setup....

Shhh don't spoil all the secrets.

Hey overkill you ship me one and ill use it. The junk yard around here wants 50 bucks for it. Lol that's why I'm using my buddies if I like it I'm going to buy it 20 bucks. What's the difference. Closer vs farther?

Post up a pic of your setup

I have some experience with them. You can't just throw any CAI on, needs to be matched for that car...The flow of air through/around the MAF sensor means everything, from performance probs, to bad fuel economy, to CEL's. And also the fit, if there is vacuum loss say at the TB your screwed - it has to be tight.

Clearly you had an intake prior to the spectre. Get that and measure the distance from the MAF to the air filter. And most importantly! make sure the MAF isnt in the spectre backwards, thats a common mistake. Look at the old intake MAF hole and screws, make sure the sperctre goes the same way.

Doubt it. Sounds more like the breather disconnect may have caused a vacuum leak of some sort that led to you experiencing what you did.

I thought that but I took the whole thing off and it runs fine without it. I know some cars won't run with the air system leaking but I took it completely off and it ran fine......really odd. Maybe it was it getting more air than normal and it screwed with the computer? I know that's a long shot

You think those are bad, you should try a BMW.

"Hi, I have six computers. We all do different things and it is REALLY fun when we don't talk!"

"Throttle body? No sir, I have EIGHT throttle bodies. Yes, that can get as complicated as it sounds."

"Camshaft position sensor? As in singular? LOL! Too funny, I have FOUR."

"Mass air meter? No, I think you mean METERS, I have two for the engine and one for the freakin' AIR PUMP!!!!"
