Seriously look at the pleats by the seam, it's like crooked teeth.

Back on topic.
This came out of a 06 Nisan Sentra, the filter has 5K miles i think. Not sure, mother in law said that she was long overdue (for OC) and I offered to help (indulge in my fetish) her out. Oil was Mobil super 10w30, and came out a golden brown, very healthy, usable oil. Since I have no clue how old that all was in there, changed it anyway.

The endcap was ruffled up by my dikes,I was getting impatient. The pleats would make a puro prod lol, the thing is HIDEOUS!

It seemed to have been assembled this way, glued to the caps crooked. Regardless, the media is intact, no separations, tears, or weak spots that hint defect. I just can't get over how ugly it is. The ADBV was getting crusty, not returning to it's shape very well. So it was the right call to yank it after all.

More filters to come.

The oil is much more important than the filter. Frams and Purolators are proof.

I see nothing but straight, even pleats and fully flexible/pliable ADBV. This is how a Puro should look. /Sarcasm

Im waiting for someone to really post something like that.

+1 More info would be very helpful, unfortunately it is unavailable.

Observing all the filter element pics and the OP's description of the oil removed, I see no 'definitive' indications of abuse such as sludge. But since the abuse speculation has been injected, 'imo' could just as easily be the 5k miles or less fci/oci as the OP suggested.

What I do see is skimpy wavy pleating adjoining the seam pleat area. May mean nothing, but since aesthetics seem important to some, only equitable the OP noted it imo.

Thanks for the pics.

Ugly but as is typical it held up. Which part number is that? Some orange cans I will use, some I won't. I would put this one in the won't category.

I replaced with M1 5w30 and a honda A01.
I will go dig through thw recycle bin and find the part # for ya.

The 9688 is one of the better ones, yes I would use one but last time I needed one I bought the TG cause it was only a dollar more so I figured why not?
