I tried it for a while. In my anecdotal experience it did nothing it claimed. It didn't make any firearm I tried it on easier to clean (M16, M249, M60, M249, and some personally owned firearms, HK USP, the front of the cylinder on a Ruger GP100 or S&W 686). It did NOT prevent rust at all. Clean a bore with solvent to remove everything, leave it wet with Militec and there was rust the next day.Second time around reading. This part makes me sick to my stomach and I'm not even a vet:
The company owners know the product is inferior and they are trying to force this down the militaries throat, despite failing the tests. ESPECIALLY for gun lubrication in war. Possibility someone could have died as a result of blind faith in this product.
If it lived up to the claims, then there should have been noticeably less stoppages, especially with the M249 and blanks.
Break Free and Royco CLP had less buildup of carbon/powder fouling, even on areas that are not supposed to have any oil applied at all. I oiled a few of the pistons on some M249s just to see which would be cleanest and easier to clean... it wasn't the Militec. CLP and Tetra were both better about that.
