OCI question

I plan on going to once a year OCI's on my 2006 Chevrolet Colorado (2.8 I-4). I do about 8k miles per year. Will probably use Mobil 1 0w30. I did conventional oil on the last oil change and will be scheduled to do a change the end of Sept or first of October. I would prefer to change it in the spring (May 1st) and run one year OCI's. Since I am coming into winter, should I change it now, then change it again in the spring. I see lots of short distance driving. My concern would be lot's of moisture if I change it now and run it for a year.

The winter is where you'll see more moisture and fuel contamination, so I would change it AFTER. But if you're getting it onto the freeway periodically (up to temperature for 20-30 minutes), you'll burn most of that off anyways.

If I change it first of October, then again first of May (thats about when it starts to warm up consistently), I will get seven months out of my OCI, which isn't too bad. Then I will go to a one year OCI.

You forgot to mention what your current fill and mileage on the fill is

Currently, I have GM bulk oil (I work at a dealership) 5w30. Have about 2500 miles on the current fill. Should have close to 3k by the time I change it. My mileage averages about 500-600 miles per month.
