Nu Finish Question

Hokiefyd,
You may only need to CLAY the top portions(hood/roof) of the MDX as this is where contaminents lay. Some call it "fallout" but, it's true! The side of the vehicle should still be fine with the exception of the outside mirrors. Contaminents and debris don't seem to lay or imbed themselves into the paint on the sides of the vehicles although one could have other issues such as scratches/chips etc. which will need other preperation/finishing.

The reason I mention the outside mirrors is, that the wind buffets against them at speed and they may need a bit of attention as might the front facia/nose/bumper cover, what ever one calls it

Yes, it's mostly on the horizontal surfaces. The vertical surfaces are smoother. Still, I'll probably clay the whole thing, just for the sake of completeness. Thanks again.

Indeed!

I asked this question earlier, but nobody responded..."How often do you guy`s apply Nu Finish? And do you use a spray wax in between?"

I don't pay attention to how much time elapses in between Nu Finish applications. I just pay attention to how the car looks and how water beads.

When I did use N-F, I used it up to 6x/yr. even if only doing the horizontal surfaces.

I like quick detail products in between waxing. Although I only use quick detail or wax-as-U-dry type products mainly these days, I'll still throw on some wax/silicone on the hood/roof/trunklid of the vehicle(oh, maybe once a summer, not always though). The rest of the vehicle only gets a spritz of QD or WAUD after each washing. So, there is always something on the paint surface.

I parked our '01 RX next to our friends new '10 RX and our paint is just as shiny as the '10 even if there is very light scratches in our paint(nothing an afternoon couldn't cure). Ours is always parked outside and never garaged. The headlight lenses are clouding even though I polish out the cloud/fog each year and our "B" Pillers aren't that nice rich flat black(between the doors) that they once were; the paint is fine!

Down here it will last between 4-6 months.

I never clayed a car cause it sits outside and the car never stays clean for more then a hour [if I am lucky] because of the the passing showers, dew every single morning, landcapers blowing dirt everywhere you go and constant dust from road construction everyday.

BTW Jason your car looks real good..Tint would make it look even better and protect the interior.

I never use a spray wax anymore in between..When I did awhile back it just did not seem to do anything for the car and was just a waste of time.

You can protect the interior from UV damage without tinting. There are transparent films that block 70-95% UV. Just sayin'.

Thanks. It actually has tint. I'm not sure what it is, 40%, 45%, etc. The dealer puts tint on all the cars before they sell them. The windows were down in the pictures in this thread, so you couldn't see the tint. Here's a good picture of the tint.

Thank you for the compliment! I agree, it looks nice with the tint. I'm glad it had it; I'm not one who would have gone for some tint, but since it has it, I really like it. My former car, from the same dealer, also had it. I like it enough to want to tint the MDX's front windows to match the OE privacy glass in the rear windows.

Southern NC is as far south as I've lived, and since I've been down here, I see what the big deal is about window tinting. It really does help. You guys from Florida already know that.

NuFinish about every 6-8 weeks. Spray wax from time to time in the interim. Quick and easy. Looks good.

Nu Finish can go alot longer then 8 weeks..Even down here in the jungle with Miami sun and monsoon rain everyday in the summer the Nu Finish will last for at least 4 months.
