Noticed something on cut open FL400s filter

I noticed something on my Taurus FL400s filter that I just cut open. I, about a year ago, changed my dad's filter which had the FL400s on it. It had a string around the filter, from what I read, a'la Purolator, which is what I hear on who makes the Motorcraft. However, on mine today, it did not. But it was a well made, very nice filter. Question. Did either A. Purolator stop the string around the filter to 'cure' the endcaps as I've read or B. Does Motorcraft use another vendor now.

PS. the filter was just a store bought, Walmart MC, as my dads was about a year ago.

It should still be a Purolator. If it has a 3 hole 4 hole 16 hole hole hole on the end cap (maybe one too many holes) ..it's a Purolator.

Gary, tell me that again? I am not sure what you mean. I do see 7 holes, (pic above) in the end, but I am not sure what you mean.

Purolator stamps the thread pitch into the baseplate. 3/4-16 is stamped in between the holes on the end plate.

So you'll see 3 (hole) 4 (hole) 16 (hole)space (hole)space(hole) etc.
