I found it incredible that a biosphere could be created (albeit a very simple one), in which the only exchanges to the outside environment is light in, and heat out.

About six years ago, they were selling eco-spheres (not sure if they were the "ecosphere®" brand ) at The Sharper Image and shortly after at the mall. Those spheres contained tiny bribe shrimp, seamonkeys, tiny fish or a tiny frog. I remember talk on message boards on how to get the frog out.

That Biosphere2 was pretty much a failure. What doesn't appear to be mentioned is that (IIRC) the many of the 8 originals wanted nothing to do with each other after the ordeal. It would have made a great "reality tv" type thing.
