Not sure about Australian Toyota oil reqmts

I have seen this asked before I think, but cannot find the post(s)

Can anyone shed some light on my 2012 Aurion (V6 Camry)2GR-FE handbook oil specs - in particular the temp range for 5w30. It doesn't look right in that the other xW-30 oils upper temp ranges are all well over that for 5w30. See link below

I assume these are ambient temps. I thought the xx-30 part of an oil spec was the same spec irrespective of the xW portion.

I have asked my local dealer but they couldn't explain it to me. They use 10w30 semi-syn oil pretty much across the range.

The reason I am asking is that I can buy imported from the US synthetic 5w30 oils at very attractive prices compared to local prices and 10w30 is not too common here.

Werdna123 - Both Castrol and Mobil recommend 5w30 lubricants for use in your car. Mobil also give Mobil 1 0W-40 as an alternative

No need at all for imported US synthetics!!

There is an importer here in Sydney where I can buy Mobil super and Pennzoil platinum 5w30 synthetic cheaper than semi-syn Castrol 5w30 that sells in places like supercheap etc.

My concern is still that 5w30 temp rating in my handbook - it doesn't look right to me.
