Not Happy with how this serpentine belt looks,

I don’t know what my shop used last time in my daughters CRV. I’m pretty sure they changed it last year when AC compressor was done. She started having noise at startup like VTC actuator or other. Mechanic said they have been having issues of late with belts stretching, not cracking. Wreaks havoc on the tensioner and makes noise. This was in conversation before I brought it in to get checked.

Today I passed by and he showed me the issue. As soon as he turned A/C on it sounded just like that rattle and I could see the tensioner going crazy. It’s getting a new tensioner and new belt tomorrow.
The test that the mechanic had told me to check was A/C on, in drive, foot on brake and rev it a couple times like old school power brake. I did that and it sounded like VTC actuator or other rattle. I brought it to them and he did the same to show me.

I just picked it up, lots of cash for factory tensioner and new belt. It had been sitting overnight. A/C was on when I started it, no rattle. I revved it the same way, quiet, all is well. Maybe a test for some the same way if you hear an odd rattle that way.

It goes back to my daughter in CT tonight.

After being burned by Amazon more than once Buying parts from them scares me.Dayco should be ok too?

I'm not familiar with a natural rubber belt. What the life of one of those? We always used an Epdm belt
I do not buy common parts (belts, filters, spark plugs) from Amazon because of getting burned too many times. Wrong part swapped into the right box, Used part in new box, junk new part probably counterfeit. I go to a local supplier or Rock Auto. Yes, it costs more, but when I have to put the used part I spent the time to take out back on the car just so I can get to work, OR, go to NAPA and get the right New part, the few bucks saved at Amazon is totally not a savings. The worst is if the old part can't be reused (gasket). Dayco belts are good just go to your local parts store and get a belt.
