I have been lucky - last oil burner was 1979 PowerWagon - But it was a few years old before it started ...

My 2011 owner's manual claims up to 1 liter per 1000 km (~600 miles/qt.) is normal. Which is, of course, Toyota's even more ridiculous excuse to evade responsibility for defective engines.

I was curious if that is a normal amount of oil consumption at that mileage.

That's nothing. I don't take action until spark plugs start fouling. When it reaches 1 quart for 500 miles, post back.
