Can't seem to find any reference or parts for 2002+ Honda CRV automatic transmission filters. Even the Haynes manual I have omits it. Seems a little weird to me.

Any CRV owners have any experience with this? Sounds like all I can do is drain/refill the transmission.

I cant really think of any hondas from 89 and up with a servicable filter.
They have a screen inside but you can only change it if you disassemble the transmission.
Just do fairly frequent drain and fills and it should hold up just fine.
I think I read on this site that honda choose that route because they use low wereing clutch materials so they dont require filter changes unless your doing a rebuild.

Well, I had no idea. I just assumed that all cars had a filter of some type. I guess I'll just drain/fill the fluid on a regular basis.

Thanks

The CRV has a screen, not normal service item.
The Odyssey, MDX, TL, CL at least through 2003-4 with the 5spd auto have a filter which can be replaced from outside although is not a routine service procedure. Maybe it should be replaced regularly. These 5spd autos have problems with clutch material clogging the transmission and causing failure. Clutches are not as low wearing as the designers had thought.
Here is a thread about replacing a transmission filter.

Part number 8 in this diagram of a 2003 Odyssey trans is the filter.

So add a filter if you would like one. I added a B&M filter kit to my Escape because it does not have a servicable filter. Perma Cool makes what looks like an identical one. Magnafine also makes inline filters for transmissions.
