No spark

‘92 Timberwolf: fuse holder came unplugged burnt up the stator, is that supposed to happen? “Burnt”! Black. Installed the original that lasted two weeks about two or three rides around the yard,it skipped like a ht outer coil going barely made it back the the shed and it quit no spark. I put a new stator and regulator rectifier on still “nothing” the key came, thought mabe? “no” original checked with meter anyway, was ok. All voltage seems to check out.
