The problem is that every non-firearm product S&W puts their name on tends to be ****. I hope for their sake this turns out to be the exception.

I used a generous amount of BF CLP inside my M4's bolt carrier and never had a problem at the range. I shoot Wolf and there is so much carbon blowby that chunks of carbon start to stick out of the chamber. Break Free CLP works and does not cause jams in any of my weapons. Glocks, ARs, AKs, P90s, etc... they run like clockwork with BF CLP.

Weapons can jam with any lube or no lube, but so far Break Free seems to do best arctic to desert. Around dust/sand one needs to have pretty much a dry weapon in order to avoid collecting dirt, and to clean and lube more often. I assume the military is always looking for better CLPs.

'Bore cleaner' did better on powder/carbon, and one needs something with ammonia to get the copper out. I find that Eezox does better for longer term protection, but it can get a lot thicker and cause problems.

I have used Break Free since the Army began useing it int he 1980's. My Dad was in the Army for 22 years. I have never had any problems with BreakFree CLP!! My Dad always preached that most peopel especialy soldiers over oil their weapon and that this is the ost common cause of failures! Lube the snot out of it for storage but when it has to function a little bit of lube goes a long way!!

I have used home made oils made from ATF and from synthetic motor oil. I have used MilTec-1, moly grease and remington spray, 3in1 oil and Gunk Oil. I have never had anything cause me issuse. I have one friend that only use's 3in1 and so does his father and they too have not had any issues with pistols, rifles or shotguns. I do not think most weapons are that picky under most N.American environments.

MolaKule's Purple Problem Solver works very well at cleaning, and lubing firearms. It's very effective at removing metal fouling, too. I've replaced most of my gun oil and solvent collection with this stuff.
For rust prevention, I use Eezox. Marvelous stuff!

If I can keep getting Hoppe's Elite cleaner and gun oil I will keep using it. Sometimes I need to clean guns indoors (when it is windy and dusty and in cold weather-I never let a dirty gun sit overnight) and the Hoppe's gun cleaner does not have fumes.

I also will make my Blue Wonder last as long as possible. It is good for removing copper about once a year. I use it outside because of the ammonia smell.

I have never tried anything that makes a slide work better than MPro7 gun oil or Hoppe's Elite gun oil (I am sure they are the same).

Try some 75W-140 full synthetic gear oil. I use the SuperTech brand stuff from Walmart and it is pretty much the slickest stuff I've come across.

I have been useing BreakFree since about 1983 or so . It is what it is . A decent lube, a OK cleaner( good anough ) and an EXCELLent rust protector. It continues to clean after your done and put your rifle away . I will be the A$$ and say there is no way BreakFree cause a firearm to jam on useing BF alone. It was purely for whatever reason it's time to jam. You CAN have a lube and cleaner and rust protector all in one. Break Free and FP 10 prove that. We are not saying the best of the best, but it is all three. I persoanlly run Hoppes # 9 through my bores and then dry patch and then BF with follow up brush . Dry patch and light BF patch and done. There are better stuff out there than Hoppes #9 .But it's cheap and smells good to me. If Im was going to the field , war or hunting, Im bring one product for my firearms, Breakfree or FP-10 . It's works and does ALL three. I love Militec-1 as a lube but that's it. I have had rifles get rust after wiped down with it sitting in the safe for extended times. It surely is a great lube though. Give credit where credit is due. This is just my experiances through out the last 25 years or so. Everyone has an opinion and this is mine .

Not to hijack but what is the "gold" lube used on new Glocks? Is it available OTC? And, just an odd story, I have a little Remington .22 Viper semi-auto that would jam with a certain type of ammunition (bulk) and/or if it was being fired by a lefthanded shooter. It never failed. I would fire off a couple of clips and turn it over to my friend who would get 1 or 2 rounds downrange and then have to clear a jam.

I think that's your problem right there, you were using clips in a gun designed to use magazines.

You so funny!

I have heard this both ways actually. A "magazine" is something you read and a "clip" is something you hold papers together with!

I am pretty sure Smith & Wesson doesn't make their own lubircants and cleaners. The question would be who is making it for them?

It is usually the same thing as some other larger brand, just relabeled to resell under their own label.

The S & W are made by the Liquid Wrench mother company.
When you go into their site, the gun products link you to S&W. i wonder if the s w products are just the high end Liquid Wrench that has the lubricator in it

I pretty much have given up on all of the super gun cleaners and super gun oils. I just use Hoppes No. 9 gun cleaner and Hoppes Bench Rest gun cleaner and TW25B gun oil. Frankly, Hoppes gun oil seems to work fine. These are the products I can find locally and they seem to work good enough.

Of all the super products that I have tested the ones that impressed me the most were Blue Wonder gun cleaner and MPro7 gun cleaner and MPro7 gun oil. But the Blue Wonder is no longer available locally and the nearest MPro7 gun products are located in a city about 50 miles away. I can get the Hoppes stuff and the TW25B at a nearby Big R Store.

One product I do not believe in for sure is Break Free. It caused my gun to jam. I would rather just use Hoppes gun cleaner and Hoppes gun oil rather then that stuff.

Mystic,

I'm with you on the same issue. I have enough oil to last me 5 years of usage. Blue Wonder and MP-Pro 7 has been my favorite cleaners as they have no smell/odor. Persoanlly my favorite lube will always be Breakfree. It's provided enough lubricating quailities to make my AR's run fine. I'd rather spend my money to buy ammo.
